Self Care or Bust

Mask Up, Mamas!

Life gets loud. Between the constant hum of Mai Boys’ energy, the piles of laundry that never fold themselves, and the endless chores that need to be done, it’s easy to forget to hit pause. But if Motherhood has taught me anything, it’s this: you can’t pour from an empty cup. And for me, that pause comes three times a week in the form of face masks, hand masks, and foot masks (will blog about hair and other skin routines later).

It’s not about a fancy spa day or some lavish routine. It’s me, after cooking dinner, taking time for myself. And it makes all the difference. These moments aren’t just about skin, they’re about sanity. They’re my gentle reminder that I matter too.

When I use a face mask, I feel like I’m pressing reset- not just on my skin, but on my mind. Depending on the day, I’ll go for a deep clay detox, a soothing gel, or something hydrating when my skin feels dry from the chaos (or lack of sleep). It clears my pores, gives my skin life, and gives me a moment to just.. be.

I didn’t think much about hand masks until I tried one. Between dishes, gardening, and a million kid-related tasks, my hands take a hit. Slipping on those moisturizing gloves makes me feel pampered in a way I didn’t expect. My skin feels soft, my nails look healthier, and it’s become one of my favorite little rituals.

And then there are foot masks, especially the moisturizing booties. I use them while answering emails or folding clothes, and they work their magic while I multitask. They hydrate my heels, refresh my feet, and give me that “just walked out of the spa” feeling… without ever leaving my house.

What I love most about this routine is that it’s realistic. It’s affordable. It doesn’t require a booking, babysitter, or break in the schedule. Just a little intention. It’s self-care that fits into my life, not the other way around. That’s the kind of beauty I can get behind.
