There’s no way to sugarcoat it: there’s a lot of evil in this world right now. It’s loud. It’s bold. And it’s creeping into places we once thought were safe- our schools, our screens, even the everyday conversations our kids are exposed to.
The more I look around, the more I realize this world is not getting softer. It’s getting darker. And as much as we want to shield our children from the weight of it all, there comes a point when we have to stop pretending it’s not there and start raising them with their eyes wide open and their hearts anchored in truth.
This isn’t about fear. It’s about awareness. It’s about responsibility. Kev and I can’t raise Mai Boys by the world’s standards. The world says anything goes. The world says truth is relative. The world says comfort matters more than character. But I don’t serve the world. I serve God. And I know without a shadow of a doubt that if Kev and I don’t teach Mai Boys what’s right, the world will teach them what’s wrong.
We don’t have the luxury of sitting back anymore. Not when deception is disguised as entertainment. Not when values are mocked. Not when brokenness is being glorified while righteousness is being silenced. Now is the time to be bold in our parenting. Now is the time to pray out loud, talk about hard things, read the Bible together, and stop apologizing for wanting to raise children who walk in faith and live with integrity.
Sometimes, I look at Mai Boys and feel this holy urgency. Kev and I aren’t just raising sons- we’re raising future husbands, future fathers, future warriors in a battle most people pretend doesn’t exist. And we don’t want to just raise “nice” kids. We want to raise good ones. Discerning ones. Kind yes, but also strong. Rooted. Courageous. Able to stand firm even when everything around them is falling apart.
Faith isn’t just a quiet belief in our hearts, it’s the foundation our homes have to be built on. When the world feels uncertain, God is certain. When things get dark, He is light. When parenting feels overwhelming, He is our source of strength and wisdom. We have a responsibility not to control everything our kids see or hear, but to give them the tools to filter it. To know truth. To spot lies. To recognize evil for what it is and respond with wisdom and faith.
So yes, there’s a lot of evil in the world right now. But that’s not the end of the story. Because the light of Jesus still shines brighter. Because God still has a plan for this generation. And because we (mamas, parents, families) still have the power to shape hearts, speak life, and raise kids who can walk through fire without burning.
Let’s open our eyes. Let’s get intentional. Let’s be bold about faith in our homes. Because if we don’t raise our kids right, the world will raise them for us.
