Journey to Joshua
There’s something magical about the desert. The kind of quiet that sinks into your bones and makes you breathe a little deeper. We stayed at an Airbnb in Joshua Tree, and let me tell you, it was exactly what Mai Family needed. Spacious, peaceful, and packed with thoughtful touches, it checked all the boxes (and then some).
The property was completely off-grid, which made the experience even better. Without the hum of traffic or distractions of city noise, we were able to slow down and actually be present. We loved watching Mai Boys run wild with joy, free to explore without worry. The land around the house gave them plenty of room to roam and they ran around to their hearts’ content.
Inside, the home was clean, cozy, and everything worked as it should. The master bedroom and living room had these gorgeous wide windows that framed the outdoors like artwork. Waking up to the soft glow of the desert sunrise each morning was truly something special. It was one of those moments where I just paused and thanked God for the stillness and for blessing us with all that we have.
The “garage” area with two swings was a total hit. Mai Boys loved it- it gave them another fun space to unwind between hikes and outdoor play. When they weren’t running around outside, they dove into the cabinet of games the hosts provided, which kept them happily entertained while we relaxed.
But let’s talk about the nights, because that’s when the real magic happened. The night sky out there is unreal- clear, endless, and full of stars. We soaked in the outdoor hot tub under a blanket of stars, and it felt like time stood still. Mai Boys made s’mores in the beautifully built fire pit, giggling and sticky-faced, while Kev and I just soaked in the moment. It was simple, but perfect.
There’s something about this place that just made us all feel rested, reconnected, and recharged. It wasn’t just a place to sleep, it was a whole experience that brought Mai Family together in the best way. Whether you’re planning a quiet couple’s weekend or an unplugged family getaway, this spot is a gem.
