Montana Memories

There are moments in travel that imprint on your soul. And then there are places that seem designed just to create those moments. Artist Point in Yellowstone is one of those places.
After a morning filled with exploring geysers and winding trails, we made our way to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. I read that the view was “beautiful,” but nothing prepared me for the moment we stepped up to the edge of the overlook.
It was breathtaking.. Truly.
The colors along the canyon walls are unreal- soft rose, golden sandstone, bold streaks of burnt orange, all brushed together like a watercolor painting. No filter, no edit needed. And right at the center of it all, Lower Falls crashes down with a kind of graceful power, mist rising into the air like a quiet celebration.
We all stood still for a while, even Mai Boys. And if you know them, you know that’s saying a lot. Something about that view demands your attention, your silence, your presence. It pulls you in and holds you there.
You can hike along the canyon for different viewpoints if you want to keep exploring, something we definitely recommend if you have time. But even just this one stop is worth the entire drive. It’s a reminder of how grand, wild, and beautiful this world still is.
In a place like Yellowstone, where steam rises from the ground and wildlife walks freely, Artist Point feels like a sacred pause. A moment where you’re not thinking about your phone or your to-do list or what’s next. You’re just there. Present.
If you’re planning a trip to Yellowstone, don’t skip this. Even if you’ve seen a thousand photos, nothing compares to that moment when you see it with your own eyes.
