We started in the driveway – long conversations about nothing important, awkward chuckles, and slow beginnings that didn’t need to be anything more than they were. No pressure, just presence. What began as two acquaintances passing time turned into the foundation of everything we didn’t yet know we’d need.
Kevin is quiet, measured, and always observing more than he says. A man’s man by day, all grit and grind, but soft by night- the kind of soft that tucks me in when I start shivering, clasps my wrist, or hooks a finger on my waistband just to stay close in his sleep. Even when we sleep back to back, he makes sure some part of him is touching me- a knee, a foot, a hand resting somewhere, like his body’s way of saying, “I’m here”.
Kevin may be soft at night, but he is never soft on the truth. He expects a lot – not because of control (sometimes..), but because he believes in us; he pushes not to pressure, but to prepare. He wants better for us, not just from us. He also leads with a kind of patience I still don’t fully understand. But I do know this: he loves hard, protects fiercely, and provides without needing recognition. He speaks volumes with a single look in a world that talks too much and listens too little. Mai Boys may not realize it yet, but they are watching what it means to be dependable, to lead with quiet conviction, and to give without needing credit.
This blog may be full of mayhem, but behind every story, every laugh, every chaotic moment – there’s Kevin. The one who carries the weight of the world so I don’t have to. He’s the steady breath in the middle of our loud, crazy, beautiful life.
He’s not one for the spotlight, but I’m shining it on him anyway. Because if anyone deserves a Love Letter in full, it’s Him.

I love you mommy, I will promise that I will do my best to meet your standards as the perfect husband and father. I promise you that I will love you everyday, even on your worse days. Thank you for all that you do for our family.
